What is Method CRM?
Online Remote Entry for QuickBooks
At the most basic level Method is a way of
entering and modifying QuickBooks data remotely - in the cloud. Once you
connect your Method account to a local QuickBooks data file, most of the
data and functionality is mirrored in the web hosted Method application.
This allows Method users to add, modify and delete most list records and
transactions without necessarily having direct access to the QuickBooks
application. Method manages the synchronization between its database and the
QuickBooks database through the Method Integration Engine - a utility you
install on any local workstation running QuickBooks. Then, Method will
synchronize the databases any time the workstation is connected to the
Internet and has the QuickBooks data file open.
A Suite of QuickBooks Integrated Applications
At the next level of capability, Method serves
as an online suite of QuickBooks-integrated applications.
Since Method is a free-form database (SQL), the developers of Method or even
independent developers can build additional functionality into and around
the default QuickBooks remote entry screens. Over time the number of
Method-developed and independently developed applications will almost
certainly increase significantly. That said, the key applications built on
Method that integrate with QuickBooks at this point are Method CRM (core
functionality), Method
Warehouse, Method Field Service, and Method Professional Service, Method
Expense Reports and a
small list of third-party applications.
A Free Form Database Pre-Integrated with QuickBooks
Though some Method end users will have in
house database management expertise, Method Solution Providers (by design)
will provide the vast majority of this type of Method work. The scope and
nature of this type of work is not unlike working in Access or FileMaker -
though the Method application makes the process much easier to learn and
includes pre-built integration options with QuickBooks.
Consultants who would never see themselves as Access developers may be able
to offer simple Method configuration services with as little as 8 hours of
classroom training and less than one month of experimentation with the
product - even if the consultant has little or no prior database management
experience.
A Platform for Developing QuickBooks-Integrated Applications
Developing software applications on the Method platform represents the most aggressive use of the product, and Method Solution Providers are doing this regularly even if they do not market their applications to the general public - as do the developers of Xora, QXpress Online and Pendulum.
